भारत, ऑस्ट्रेलिया और दक्षिण अफ्रीका के वैज्ञानिकों ने अपने हालिया रिसर्च में दावा किया है कि उन्हें सिंहभूम में इस बात के पक्के सबूत मिले हैं कि यहां कभी समुद्र तट हुआ करता था. मोनाश यूनिवर्सिटी ऑस्ट्रेलिया के वैज्ञानिक प्रियदर्शी चौधरी, जो इस रिसर्च के प्रमुख शोधकर्ता हैं, ने यह दावा किया है. उन्होंने कहा कि 3.1 अरब साल पुरानी चट्टानों के जिरकोण कणों के अध्ययन में नदियों और समुद्र के होने के प्रमाण मिले हैं. इससे साबित होता है कि के इस भू-भाग पर कभी महाद्वीप हुआ करते थे.
