Jharkhand: झारखंड हाईकोर्ट से पूर्व मंत्री एक्का को राहत नहीं, सजा बरकरार
हाईकोर्ट के जस्टिस गौतम कुमार चौधरी की पीठ ने दंपती की याचिका पर सुनवाई की। पिछले साल 21 दिसंबर को अदालत ने फैसला सुरक्षित रख लिया था।
झारखंड हाईकोर्ट ने शुक्रवार को पूर्व मंत्री एनस एक्का और उनकी पत्नी मेनन एक्का की अपील खारिज करते हुए आय से अधिक संपत्ति के मामले में उनकी सजा को बरकरार रखा। विशेष सीबीआई अदालत ने एक्का दंपती को भ्रष्टाचार के इस मामले में 20.31 करोड़ रुपये की मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग का दोषी ठहराया गया था और पिछले साल अप्रैल में अदालत ने सात साल सश्रम कारावास और दो करोड़ रुपये जुर्माने की सजा सुनाई थी।
हाईकोर्ट के जस्टिस गौतम कुमार चौधरी की पीठ ने दंपती की याचिका पर सुनवाई की। पिछले साल 21 दिसंबर को अदालत ने फैसला सुरक्षित रख लिया था। शुक्रवार को खुली अदालत में जस्टिस चौधरी ने अपना फैसला सुनाते हुए निचली अदालत के फैसले को बरकरार रखा। एक्का 2006-08 के दौरान मधु कोड़ा की सरकार में मंत्री थे।

The Jharkhand High Court on Friday upheld the conviction of former minister Anas Ekka and his wife Menon Ekka in the disproportionate assets case, while rejecting their appeals. The Ekka couple were held guilty of money laundering to the tune of Rs 20.31 crore by a special CBI court in the corruption case and in April last year, the court sentenced them to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2 crore.

In the open court on Friday, Justice Chaudhary upheld the decision of the lower court while giving his verdict. Ekka was a minister in Madhu Koda’s government during 2006-08.
