महिला उम्मीदवारों की संख्या में अंकड़ों की धारा के अनुसार, पिछले 15 वर्षों में लोकसभा चुनावों में इसका विस्तार देखा गया है। 2009 में सात प्रतिशत से बढ़कर, 2024 में यह 9.6 प्रतिशत तक पहुंच गई है। पिछले चुनाव की अपेक्षा, इस बार महिला उम्मीदवारों की संख्या में 2.6 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि देखी गई है। एडीआर के अनुसार, इस बार 797 महिलाएं मैदान में हैं, जो कुल 8,337 उम्मीदवारों का 9.6 प्रतिशत हैं। 2009 में 556 महिला उम्मीदवार चुनावी मैदान में थीं, जो कुल 7,810 उम्मीदवारों का सात प्रतिशत था। 2014 में यह संख्या 640 (8,205 का आठ प्रतिशत) और 2019 में 716 (7,928 का नौ प्रतिशत) हो गई।

बीजेपी ने सबसे अधिक महिलाओं को दिया टिकट

महिला उम्मीदवारों को टिकट देने के मामले में बीजेपी सबसे आगे है, उसने अपने 440 उम्मीदवारों में से 69 महिलाओं को टिकट दिया है. जबकि कांग्रेस ने अपने 327 उम्मीदवारों में से 41 को टिकट दिया है. वहीं क्षेत्रीय दलों की बात करें, तो वे महिलाओं को टिकट देने में काफी उदार हैं. एडीआर के अनुसार महिला प्रतिनिधित्व वाले कुछ दलों में झारखंड मुक्ति मोर्चा (झामुमो) और बीजू जनता दल (बीजद) शामिल आगे हैं, जिनमें से प्रत्येक में 33 प्रतिशत, राष्ट्रीय जनता दल (राजद) में 29 प्रतिशत महिला उम्मीदवार हैं. समाजवादी पार्टी (सपा) में 20 प्रतिशत महिला प्रतिनिधित्व है, जबकि अखिल भारतीय तृणमूल कांग्रेस (एआईटीसी) में 25 प्रतिशत महिला उम्मीदवार हैं.

Samajwadi Party (SP) has 20 percent women representation, while All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has 25 percent women candidates.
