निगरानी में रखे गए हैं कर्मचारी
आरएसपी के जनसंपर्क विभाग द्वारा जारी बयान के अनुसार, एक जुलाई 2024 को ओडिशा के राउरकेला इस्पात संयंत्र के ब्लास्ट फर्नेस-5 के यू-सील के पास क्लेरिफायर क्षेत्र में मरम्मत का काम चल रहा था। सुबह करीब 10:40 बजे वहां काम कर रहे नौ लोग असहज महसूस करने लगे और उनकी तबीयत बिगड़ गई। उनमें से आठ लोगों को तुरंत इस्पात जनरल अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया और उन्हें आईसीयू में निगरानी और आवश्यक देखभाल के लिए रखा गया। सभी कर्मचारी अब ठीक हैं और निगरानी में हैं। इन आठ व्यक्तियों में तीन आरएसपी के स्थायी कर्मचारी हैं और पांच ठेका संस्था के कर्मचारी हैं। एक महिला ठेका कर्मचारी, जो मौके पर मौजूद थी, का इलाज संयंत्र परिसर स्थित स्वास्थ्य केंद्र में किया गया और वह भी पूरी तरह से खतरे से बाहर है। इस घटना से क्षेत्र के किसी भी उपकरण या पाइपलाइन को कोई नुकसान नहीं हुआ है।

आरएसपी में दुर्घटना की सूचना मिलने पर प्रभारी निदेशक अतनु भौमिक ने इस्पात जनरल अस्पताल का दौरा किया और वहां इलाजरत कर्मचारियों से मुलाकात की। बाद में पत्रकारों से बातचीत में उन्होंने बताया कि यह घटना इस्पात संयंत्र की भट्टी (ब्लास्ट फर्नेस) नंबर पांच में हुई थी। बीमार हुए लोगों को तुरंत इस्पात जनरल अस्पताल ले जाया गया। बीमार कर्मचारियों में एक कार्यकारी अधिकारी, एक वरिष्ठ पर्यवेक्षक, आरएसपी के अन्य कर्मचारी और कुछ संविदा कर्मी शामिल हैं। भौमिक ने कहा कि उन्होंने सभी से मुलाकात की है और उनकी स्थिति ठीक है। घटना की जांच के लिए वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों की एक तीन सदस्यीय समिति का गठन किया गया है। एक अन्य अधिकारी ने बताया कि घटना तब हुई जब एक गैस पाइप कनेक्शन के लिए काम किया जा रहा था।

All of them have been admitted to the ICU of Ispat General Hospital. The accident is suspected to be due to gas leakage, although there has been no official confirmation of the gas leak from the RSP.
Employees are placed under supervision
According to a statement issued by the public relations department of RSP, on July 1, 2024, repair work was going on in the clarifier area near the U-seal of Blast Furnace-5 of Rourkela Steel Plant in Odisha. Around 10.40 am, nine people working there started feeling uneasy and their health deteriorated. Eight of them were immediately admitted to Ispat General Hospital and kept in ICU for observation and necessary care. All employees are now fine and under observation. Of these eight persons, three are permanent employees of RSP. And five are contractual employees. A woman contract worker, who was present at the spot, was treated at the health centre on the plant premises and is also completely out of danger. The incident has not caused any damage to any equipment or pipelines in the area.

On receiving information about the accident at RSP, in-charge director Atanu Bhowmik visited Ispat General Hospital and met the staff undergoing treatment there. Later talking to reporters, he said the incident took place in blast furnace number 5 of the steel plant. The ill people were immediately rushed to Ispat General Hospital. The sick employees include an executive officer, a senior supervisor, other employees of RSP and some contractual workers. Bhowmik said he had met everyone and their The situation is okay. A three-member committee of senior officials has been formed to probe the incident. Another official said the incident took place when work was being done for a gas pipe connection.
