भाजपा नेता सह सरायकेला नगर पंचायत के पूर्व उपाध्यक्ष मनोज कुमार चौधरी ने नगर निकायों में चुनाव कराने हेतु हाईकोर्ट का संज्ञान लेने का स्वागत किया उन्होंने पिछले 6 महीने से नगर निकाय चुनाव नहीं करने पर राज्य सरकार को आड़े हाथों लिया उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य सरकार द्वारा पिछले 6 महीने से नगर निकायों के चुनाव लंबित रखना लोकतंत्र की हत्या के समान है क्योंकि राज्य सरकार द्वारा राज्य के 34 नगर निकायों का कार्यकाल 6 महीने पहले समाप्त हो चुका है उसके बावजूद नगर निकायों के चुनाव नहीं करने से लोकतांत्रिक प्रक्रिया बाधित हो रही है एक तरफ जहां केंद्रीय पूल में मिलने वाली राशि से नगर निकाय के विकास कार्य प्रभावित हो रहे हैं वहीं दूसरी ओर छोटे-बड़े सभी काम नगर निवासियों के जनप्रतिनिधियों के माध्यम से आसानी से हो जाते थे वह सभी काम अभी नगर निकायों के चक्कर लगाने पर भी नहीं हो रहे हैं बल्कि बिना चढ़ावे के नहीं होते हैं राज्य सरकार की विफलता या नियत का इसी बात से पता चलता है कि अभी तक सुप्रीम कोर्ट के निर्देश के बावजूद ओबीसी आरक्षण तय करने हेतु डेडीकेटेड कमीशन के अध्यक्ष तक को नियुक्त नहीं किया गया है।
उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य सरकार द्वारा नगर निकाय के चुनाव को टालने की मुख्य वजह है कि शहरी क्षेत्र में उनका जनाधार नहीं है और सरकार को डर है कि यदि चुनाव करवा दे तो नगर निकायों की सत्ता उनके हाथों से निकल जाएगी वर्तमान सरकार द्वारा नगर निकायों को अपने वसूली एजेंटों द्वारा चलाया जा रहा है।
उन्होंने राज्य सरकार पर आरोप लगाते हुए कहा कि जनता को सुख सुविधा मूलभूत सुविधाएं उपलब्ध कराने के वादे से सत्ता पर काबिज हुई सरकार वर्तमान लुट-खसोट में लगी हुई है।
उन्होंने कहा कि यदि सरकार की नियत और मकसद यदि सच्ची है नगर निकायों के चुनाव से क्यों भाग रही है सरकार जल्द से जल्द लोकतांत्रिक पर्यटक क्रिया के तहत नगर निकायों के चुनाव करवाएं अन्यथा नगर निकायों की जनता इसका जवाब 2024 के विधानसभा चुनाव में सरकार को जरूर देगी।
