खरसावां प्रखंड के अंतर्गत शहरबेडा स्थित बाबा कार्तिक उरांव पुस्तकालय में उरांव समाज सरना समिति मीसीडीह और टाटा स्टील फाउंडेशन जमशेदपुर द्वारा पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री सह अखिल भारतीय आदिवासी विकास परिषद के संस्थापक बाबा कार्तिक उरांव की 99 वो जयंती मनाई गई। इस दौरान बाबा कार्तिक उरांव की प्रतिमा पर श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित कर उनके बताए गए मार्ग पर चलने का संकल्प लिया गया साथ ही विद्यार्थियों के बीच प्रतियोगिता परीक्षा और करियर काउंसलिंग कराई गई जयंती समारोह में उपायुक्त रवि शंकर शुक्ला ने भी शामिल होकर बाबा कार्तिक उरांव को नमन किया और विद्यार्थियों का उत्साह बढाती हुए प्रतियोगिता परीक्षा में प्रथम द्वितीय और तृतीय स्थान प्राप्त करने वाले विद्यार्थियों को सम्मानित किया मौके पर डीसी ने कहा की करियर काउंसलिंग विद्यार्थियों को ऊंची उड़ान की कल्पना की साकार करता है करियर काउंसलिंग की मदद से लोग अपने अंदर के हुनर को पहचान पाते हैं जिससे उनके करियर का चयन करने में कोई परेशानी नहीं होती है जिस व्यक्ति की रुचि जिस क्षेत्र में रहती है उसी में करियर काउंसलिंग के मदद से एक स्पष्ट सोच विकसित की जाती है अन्य वक्ताओं ने बाबा कार्तिक उरांव की जीवनी पर प्रकाश डालते हुए कहा कि बचपन से ही विलक्षण प्रतिभा की धनी कार्तिक ने अभी तांत्रिकी के क्षेत्र में महारत हासिल कर देश में नाम कमाया था कार्तिक पहले ऐसे राजनेता थे जिनके पास इंजीनियरिंग की 9 डिग्री थी देश विदेश में कोई बड़े संस्थानों में अपनी सेवा देने के बाद स्वदेश लौटे लोहरदगा संसदीय क्षेत्र से सांसद निर्वाचित हुए थे उन्होंने 1947 को भारतीय सर्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में भी भाग लिया अखिल भारतीय आदिवासी विकास परिषद की स्थापना कर आदिवासियों के हितों को रक्षा के लिए कार्य करते रहें समाज आदिवासियों की हित में कोई महत्वपूर्ण कार्य किए इस दौरान मुख्य रूप से पूर्व सिहभुम जिला कृषि पदाधिकारी मिथिलेश कालिंदी, खरसावां चिकित्सा प्रभारी कन्हैयालाल उरांव, मुखिया इंद्रजीत उरांव, मंगल उरांव, धर्मेंद्र उरांव, वीरेंद्र उरांव, भागीरथ उरांव, पवन महतो, सुनील , संतोष उरांव, विष्णु सरदार जयराम उरांव, धरनीसेन उरांव, हीरु उरांव, दशरथ उरांव, आनंद उरांव, बिरसा महाली आदि उपस्थित थे
The 99th birth anniversary of former Union Minister and founder of All India Tribal Development Council, Baba Kartik Oraon was celebrated by Oraon Samaj Sarna Samiti Meesidih and Tata Steel Foundation Jamshedpur at Baba Kartik Oraon Library located in Shahrabeda under Kharsawan block. During this, by paying tribute to the statue of Baba Kartik Oraon, a pledge was taken to follow the path shown by him, along with this, competitive examination and career counseling were conducted among the students. Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla also participated in the birth anniversary celebration and paid homage to Baba Kartik Oraon. And while increasing the enthusiasm of the students, the students who got first, second and third position in the competitive examination were honored. Said that Karthik, who was a prodigious talent since childhood, had earned name in the country by mastering the field of Tantrik. Karthik was the first politician who had 9 degrees in engineering. He returned home after serving in some big institutions in the country and abroad. He was elected MP from Lohardaga parliamentary constituency. He also participated in the Indian Independence Movement in 1947. He continued working to protect the interests of the tribals by establishing the All India Tribal Development Council.
